Headed by Dr. Matthew Nielson, we study gender development across the lifespan - from children to the elderly - and explore how they learn about and navigate gender norms. Do they feel pressure to conform to gender norms? If so, how does that affect their wellbeing? Where does the pressure come from? We study gender socialization by parents, peers, and the media.
